Amankora Punakha is located just across a suspension bridge along the Mo Chu River, with suites built around a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse. A small property, there are only eight suites. The hotel is situated in an orange orchard, with views of Punakha Valley and Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most beautiful monasteries.

I saw some low reviews before coming so I was quite curious as to what could make someone rate it lower than five stars. I have to say I'm still scratching my head. This place is beautiful and waking up among the views was a once in a lifetime experience. Each Amankora hotel I've stayed at in Bhutan blended seamlessly into the environment while still feeling luxurious. The room and facility astetic is minimalist and timeless so if you are looking for something that looks gawdy and ornate a la Trump towers (barf) then maybe you would be disappointed. But if like clean lines and beautiful wood you'll be happy. One of the coolest hikes stared at the hotel, went through rice fields, and ended at a temple. My shoes got dirty and they offered to clean them. They looked brand new it was awesome. The food was delicious and service was impeccable. The only critic I could find is the wifi in my room was slow but I'm fairly certain this is just the way it is in Bhutan, anywhere, and in way ended up being a good thing because it encouraged me to be present. So, all in all, of the 3 Aman's I saw in Bhutan this particular one was my favorite.
