  The first public college in Bhutan often hyped as the “the peak of learning”. It was the only college in Bhutan that catered to the educational needs of the tertiary students then. However, despite a lot many new college’s mushroom every year, Sherubtse College still remains one of the most prestigious colleges in Bhutan. It is under the Royal University of Bhutan, though it was previously affiliated to Delhi University, India. As of my experience there, I completed my Post Graduate Diploma in English from 2014 to 2016 through a mixed-mode program for in-service teachers. Even though, I had no fortune to attend this college as a full-time student, I had a rare glimpse of the college as a PGDE student. One of the best things I found there is the college library. The college library also houses a copy of the world’s largest book (pictorial in Bhutan). The book is in the Guinness World Records. Don’t forget to steal a glimpse of it the next time you are there.

  Sherubtse College was only premier public college in Bhutan then. It has best learning atmosphere and facilities than anywhere else in Bhutan. Although I spent three years, it was too short and by the time I realized, I graduated with my degree. These days, the competition has become so tough to qualify for College. Many more private and public colleges have come up to cater to growing demands. It was best part of my student life to be in Sherubtse College. In short, everyone called Shercol!
