::Thrisa was first occupied by settlers from Tunglabi, presently under Bardo Gewog as the new tax bearer (Threlpa) to the government. Thus, the newly occupied land came to be known as ‘Threlsa’, meaning ‘Land for Tax’, later it has changed to ‘Thrisa’. The other source says ‘Thri’ meaning throne and ‘sar’ means new. A new village located on the landscape which appeared like a throne came to be known as ‘Thrisar’. Thisa Chodpa (16-18th of 10th Lunar month) and the bon festival of Kharphu (17-21st of 9th Lunar month) are 2 main events of the village. There are many sacred places to visit for pilgrimage or just for short hikes: 1. Dzong Girgir Nye 2. Chachubrang Nye 3. Gadencholing Lhakhang 4. Chengtang temple 5. Kharpong Lhakhang
